Our Staff

Pastor Derek and Melissa were married in July 2000 and God has blessed them with five children: Elijah, Isaac, Sam, Esther Joy, and Anna Faith. Their first calling is to make disciples of their children and they desire to raise their children with a biblical worldview helping them to see the need for Christ in the world and releasing them to follow God’s call wherever that might lead them. Pastor Derek is passionate about the family and spending his ministry discipling men to love their wives, disciple their children, and to seek to know God, glorify Him, and make Him known among our neighbors and the nations.

Pastor Derek came to saving faith in February of 1992 and was baptized at Northside Baptist Church in Panama City, FL. Derek was called into vocational ministry when he was 15 years old at Centrifuge Camp in Ridgecrest, NC. God made His calling abundantly clear through the confirmation of His Word, through a burning desire to teach and preach the gospel, and confirmation through pastors and other leaders in his life. Derek spent most of his early ministry serving on staff in churches in VA, NC and SC while earning a degree in Music Education from Gardner-Webb University. He graduated from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary with a Masters of Divinity in Theology and Worship Leadership. While in seminary, Derek had the opportunity to serve on the church planting team of Parkway with our founding pastor, Dr. Brian Autry. He served Parkway as the Worship & Student Pastor for the first 5 years and as Pastor for Worship & Missions for 7 years. In 2014 God lead Pastor Derek and his family to his primary calling to preach and teach as Senior Pastor of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Martinsville, VA. In 2017 God called Pastor Derek back to Parkway as our Lead Pastor. He is passionate about leading the church to be on mission for Christ to make disciples who make disciples to send out church planters and missionaries. God has equipped Pastor Derek to mobilize and lead His church to reach their Jerusalem, their Judea, their Samaria, and the ends of the earth with the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Pastor Mike started coming to Parkway the second Sunday in 2002 when it was open with his family as a junior in high school and was one of the original members of the Studentz Ministry. While attending college, Mike served in various leadership roles within the Studentz Ministry and on January 1, 2008, Mike became the Student Pastor. He currently serves as the NextGen Pastor over Parkway's Studentz and Young Adult ministries. Mike also serves as the Student Ministry Strategist for the Southern Baptist Convention of Virginia (SBCV), where he partners with churches by providing student ministry leader training and networking, camp and mission projects for students, conferences, and other opportunities throughout the year.

His desire is to see students give their lives to Jesus, grow in their relationship with Him, and make Him known. Pastor Mike is a graduate of Liberty University and Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. He is married to Julie and they have 2 children, Jillian and Landon. 

Pastor Dustin needs a bio and an updated photo. He has kids. He likes Kids okay. He'll do fine. 

George recently retired as manager of packaged mission projects for the IMB, where he started in 2007. He is passionate about teaching, discipling, and mobilizing to the mission of God. His years of experience on church staff, in denominational service, and in missions helps him to integrate the mission of God into everyday life. Prior to the IMB, George served as a student pastor for over 23 years in four churches. He was the associate director for World Changers at the Brotherhood Commission and also served with Lifeway’s Fuge Camps.

George has been a member of Parkway since 2007.

DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS AND ADMINISTRATION

Steve also serves as Church Treasurer, where he oversees spending and provides support and accountability to the Pastors and Ministry Staff as they seek to maintain good stewardship while advancing the Gospel.  Steve and his wife Pat have been attending Parkway for over 12 years, and recently celebrated their 40th anniversary. 

DIRECTOR OF PRODUCTION

Sam majored in Music Education at Longwood University. A long time attender of Parkway Baptist Church in Moseley, Sam joined the Launch Team for Parkway Church North Chesterfield as Worship Coordinator in 2019. Currently Sam coordinates worship and media at Parkway. Sam, his wife Laura, and their daughter, MacKenzie, reside in North Chesterfield. 

DIRECTOR OF CONNECTIONS

Laurie is our newest staff member. She is serving as our Director of Connections, working to connect new and existing Parkway attenders to membership, small groups, and serving.
Laurie has been married to her husband, Stan, for over 44 years and they have 3 children and 5 grandchildren.

MINISTRY ASSISTANT

Karen and her husband, Kyle, have lived in the Chesterfield area for many years. They attended Parkway since it's launch in 2002, and recently began attending Bethlehem Baptist Church to help with it's revitalization.  Karen serves as a ministry assistant in many areas, particularly finances, and Studentz.

FACILITIES

Stan and his wife Laurie have three grown children and have lived in Moseley for many years. Stan and Laurie have been involved in ministry at Parkway for the past eight years and were a part of the original 13 families that helped launch Parkway. Stan provides staff coordination for our facilities, both inside and outside.
